UMH participates at NAFSA, the most important educational event in North America

Vicente Micol, Vice Rector for International Relations, and Inmaculada Blaya, Director of the Service of International Relations, Development Cooperation and Volunteerism at the UMH, this week are at the NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo, an international meeting attended by the most important universities in North America, which this year is being held in Los Angeles, California.

The objective of the UMH presence at this gathering is to strengthen existing links with North and South American institutions in addition to expanding them to enable cooperation in academic areas and student and faculty mobility between both parts. Moreover, the UMH is also presenting its Study Abroad programs, which are directed especially at North American students. “These are courses designed especially to take place over four weeks during summer, and they provide training in various subjects and reinforce the level of Spanish in North American students at the same time that they permit learning about our culture and enjoying our Mediterranean environment,” explains Vicente Micol.

In doing so, the UMH is continuing its internationalization strategy towards the United States and Latin America, and this permitted presenting the UMH Area of US Hispanic Studies and the Mediterranean Culture Study Abroad program. So far, these efforts have resulted in various collaboration agreements with outstanding educational institutions and cooperation in the area of Hispanic studies. In this regard, the UMH is taking advantage of its attendance at NAFSA to promote the Ryszard Kapuściński 4th International Seminar of Journalism, Human Rights, Migration and Borders, which will be held this fall.
