INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FILM PROJECT UNDER WAY AT THE UMH

The UMH has held the first masterclass in the International Student Film Project, which will permit some twenty students to participate in the coproduction of short films, and that will continue throughout the month of July. Participating in this initiative are students from three universities:  the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, Universidad de las Californias Internacional (Mexico), and the University of Beira Interior (Portugal).

Pablo Mas, lecturer at the UMH and member of the Spanish Academy of Film, opened the International Student Film Project. Also participating in the workshop was Ramón San Juan, who delved into the importance of music in film, as well as Fran Mateu, who will advise students on scripts.

Over the next four weeks, each participant will produce a short film under the tutelage of different professionals, but with full autonomy to develop each’s own work. The participants may exchange work routines and experiences with the objective of enriching and consolidating personal theoretical and practical knowledge they have acquired during the academic year. For this edition, they are being supervised by lecturer Francisco Martínez and under the UMH Audiovisual undergraduate program. The short films will then be broadcast by the three universities at film festivals and contests within their areas of influence.

The International Student Film Project is being organized by the Audiovisual Communication program, and supported by the Vice Rectorate for International Relations, Vice Rectorate for Culture and University Extension, Vice Rectorate for Students Affairs and Athletics, the Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente de Elche, FICIE, and the UMH Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences of Elche.
