REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE UMH AND ITS LANGUAGE CENTER EXHIBIT THE UNIVERSITY’S ACADEMIC AND TRAINING OPTIONS IN THE UNITED STATES

The Vice Rector for International Relations at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH), Vicente Micol, the director of the Service of International Relations, Development Cooperation and Volunteerism, Inmaculada Blaya, and the director of Language Center Development at the UMH, Ana Esclapez, exhibited the academic and training options of the UMH and its Language Center at the 2019 NAFSA Conference & Expo. NAFSA is the world’s premier annual event for international educators and institutions that support and advance international education. This year’s conference was held in Washington, D.C.

Over one week, the UMH representatives met with 27 universities from 13 countries, including Korea, Taiwan, China, and India. These countries represent part of the ongoing internationalization process of the UMH and its Language Laboratory on the Asian continent, which permits the UMH to explore new geographic lines of collaboration. Furthermore, these meetings help consolidate existing links between universities in countries such as Argentina and Chile, and enhance the expansion of the UMH within North America. For her part, Ana Esclapez presented the self-learning language platforms of BeEnglish Lab and Llengua Lab, and she demonstrated to her international counterparts how the Language Center has implemented them at the UMH.

The UMH participated at NAFSA with the Costa Blanca Provincial Tourism Board of the Diputación de Alicante and its director, José Francisco Mancebo, who attended the event alongside the UMH contingent. Such collaboration also promotes this province’s cultural and leisure offerings, further transforming the UMH into a geographic destination to learn of and enjoy Mediterranean culture.
