UMH INITIATES ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY STUDIES WITH THE ITALIAN UNIVERSITY OF PERUGIA

Antonio Boggia, an associate professor from the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences at the Italian University of Perugia, visited the UMH Campus of Orihuela Desamparados and that of Elche with the objective of learning about the development of different skills for assessing sustainability and the role of ecosystem services.

During his stay, which was made possible by the Erasmus+ international mobility program for the training of faculty and research personnel, data on environmental studies of Spanish cases were compiled and comparisons between Spanish and Italian histories were made for both teaching and research alike. The stay also offered an additional feature, the projection of the development of various joint European projects between both universities.

Furthermore, other activities included examining the work undertaken for assessing sustainability within Spain, analyzing ecosystem services, and the sharing of environmental methods employed at the UMH. Local faculty who accompanied Boggia in these activities were professor Francisco José del Campo Gomis, from the Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, and associate professor Asunción Agulló Torres, from The Department of Agro-Environmental Economics, Cartography Engineering and Graphic Expression in Engineering.
