{"id":3971,"date":"2017-01-23T10:53:38","date_gmt":"2017-01-23T09:53:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/internacional.umh.es\/?page_id=3971"},"modified":"2026-03-06T13:41:54","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T12:41:54","slug":"voluntariado-en-ruanda","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/internacional.umh.es\/en\/cooperacion-y-voluntariado\/voluntariado\/voluntariado-en-ruanda\/","title":{"rendered":"Volunteering in Rwanda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This international development cooperation volunteering program at the UMH in Rwanda aims to train volunteers on both theoretical and practical levels by having them perform development cooperation activities. <strong>All UMH cohorts are eligible to take part<\/strong>, including Faculty &amp; Research Personnel; Technical, Management, Administrative &amp; Services and Research Personnel; students; and alumni too. This program has taken part every year since 2011 (except 2020-2022 because of the pandemic) during the summer months of July, August, and September. This year, two groups of volunteers will travel to our facilities i<strong>n Rwanda, which are located in Nemba<\/strong> (Gakenke, Northern Province), wherein they will remain for either 2 or 4 weeks (depending upon the group), during which they will engage in training and development cooperation endeavors.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The training activity objectives include:\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Provide the participants with a comprehensive vision of social volunteering on local and international levels, within the realities of an unequal world.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Contribute to the training of people committed to transforming our planet, which is part of the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals from the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.The objectives of the training activities include:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The development cooperation actions roll out in different environments:\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Provision of training for Rwandan educational professionals from primary and secondary schools.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Educational reinforcement for students at said schools.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Support for Rwandan health personnel employed at Nemba Hospital.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Socio-health support for patients at Nemba hospital and their family members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"width: 640px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-3971-2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/internacional.umh.es\/files\/2023\/09\/Voluntariado-UMH-en-Ruanda-2023.mp4?_=2\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/internacional.umh.es\/files\/2023\/09\/Voluntariado-UMH-en-Ruanda-2023.mp4\">https:\/\/internacional.umh.es\/files\/2023\/09\/Voluntariado-UMH-en-Ruanda-2023.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong>Calls:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h4><strong>2026 call for volunteer places:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>NEW (January 30, 2026):<\/strong><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/boumh.umh.es\/files\/2026\/01\/ES_U05500001_2026_DOCH-0000000000000000000033414.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Provisional list of applications accepted and those rejected<\/a> (<strong>the period for making corrections is open February 2 &#8211; 13, 2026<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>(December 16, 2025)<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/internacional.umh.es\/files\/2025\/12\/RR_03559_2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Call<\/a> for places to participate in the 13th edition of the UMH International Development Cooperation Volunteering Program in Rwanda for 2026.
