<\/a><\/span>The Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University of Elche (UMH) is hosting an exhibition to commemorate Human Rights Day, which is celebrated on December 10. Starting on said day and for a week thereafter, the central corridor of the Altabix Building on the Elche Campus is displaying 30 illustrations that refer to each of the articles in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) of the United Nations.<\/p>\nWith these illustrations, the UMH Service of International Relations, Development Cooperation and Volunteerism strives to publicize the UDHR and to raise awareness in students on the importance of small actions that can contribute to the world\u2019s peoples preserving their basic rights. Along these lines, acting out against bullying and gender violence, donating to and participating in NGOs, improving consumption habits, choosing companies that engage in fair trade, can result in positive changes for the global population.<\/p>\n
On December 10, 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted and proclaimed the UDHR as a historic document that establishes 30 fundamental rights that must be guaranteed for every person on the planet. To commemorate this event, Human Rights Day is held every year on December 10.<\/p>\n
The UDHR proclaims the inalienable rights that belong to all people as human beings, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, religion, gender, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status.<\/p>\n
It is an unprecedented document and therefore it is important to become aware of the importance of each one of the 30 articles contained in the declaration, learning it and claiming it as a cornerstone of liberty to live in dignity and within the international framework of human rights.<\/p>\n
