\"\"<\/a><\/span>School of Engineering of Orihuela associate professor and Director of the Ibero-America Espejo Program Director, Joaqu\u00edn Pastor, has been recognized by the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) of the Dominican Republic as 2024 Graduate Coordinator for doctoral programs at that university in which invited professors from the UMH participate.<\/p>\n

This accolade, which recognizes his contributions to the advancement of knowledge and scientific work at the Faculty of Agronomic and Veterinary Sciences at the first institution of higher education in the Americas, was presented at the 2024 Research and Graduate Education Awards by the Dominican Minster of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT), Dr. Franklin Garcia Ferm\u00edn; UASD Rector, Editrudis Beltr\u00e1n; and the Vice Rector for Research and Graduate Education, Dr. Radham\u00e9s Silverio.<\/p>\n

New meeting for 140 Dominican Students coming to the UMH<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pastor also had meetings at the Dominican Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology with its Vice Minister of International Relations, Paula Disla; its Director of International Grants, Roselia Perez; its Director of Agreements and Conventions, Sabrina Alba; and the manager of the Dominican students at the UMH, Ruth Batista. These meetings aimed to prepare a new agreement for the upcoming two years so that 140 Dominican students can enroll in undergraduate programs at the UMH thanks to MESCyT grants.<\/p>\n

Likewise, the UMH professor also met with the director of National Dominican Grants, Lanny Portorreal, regarding new doctoral programs at the UASD (art & engineering), that will count on participation by invited faculty from the UMH. They also discussed doctoral programs on data science & artificial intelligence in addition to business management and leadership. These two programs are currently in development and waiting for approval by the UASD and MESCyT, and they will also receive collaboration by invited faculty from the UMH.<\/p>\n

While at the UASD, Pastor also spoke with its Vice Rector for Research in addition to various deans and doctoral program coordinators to schedule meetings between the UMH directors and\/or consultants as well as with students that will take place in February at the Caribbean institution.<\/p>\n
