<\/a><\/em>\u2018Ideas. Imagination. Inspiration.\u2019 This was the theme for the 9th<\/sup> Board of Rectors Meeting of The European University of Brain and Technology\u2013NeurotechEU. This event was hosted by the University of Bonn (Germany) May 13 – 15, simultaneously along with the NeurotechEU Symposium 2025. These events attracted over 150 people among alliance personnel and students. The Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University of Elche (UMH), which currently holds the presidency of the Board of Rectors, was represented by Vice Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation, Vicente Micol; the leader of NeurotechEU at the UMH and Director of the Institute of Neurosciences (UMH-CSIC), Juana Gallar; and Director of the Service of International Relations and Cooperation, Inmaculada Blaya.<\/p>\nDuring the meeting by the delegations from the partner universities of the NeurotechEU alliance, Medical University of Innsbruck (Austria) confirmed its upcoming incorporation into the alliance. The Rector-elect of that institution, Gert Mayer, presented the institution, highlighting its strengths and its future contributions to the alliance, among other things, in addition to its close connection between basic science and clinical & applied research in neuroscience and molecular biology.<\/p>\n
UMH personnel at work meetings in Bonn also included Deputy Vice Rector for Research – Management of Research and Director of the Brain-Machine Interface Systems Lab at the University Institute for Engineering Research (I3E-UMH), Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Azor\u00edn; Deputy Vice Rector for Institutional Position & Rankings, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Blanes, who is also a participant in the work package promoting mobility between the alliance\u2019s partner universities. Attending as a UMH representative in the work package dedicated to developing common strategies and policies was Professor of Food Technology, Esther Sendra; and researcher at I3E-UMH, Eduardo I\u00e1\u00f1ez, who is also a member in the work group dedicated to developing the academic program in neurotechnology for the alliance. Other local representatives included technician in applications from the Service of Technological Innovation and Planning, V\u00edctor \u00c1lvarez; the head of communication by NeurotechEU at the UMH, J\u00falia Santacreu; doctoral student, Jesica Mart\u00ednez; and UMH representative on the NeurotechEU Student Council, Desir\u00e9e Gracia.<\/p>\n
In Bonn, student representatives from the alliance presented an artistic project in which Student Council members from each member university of NeurotechEU showcased a different part of the brain. Presenting on behalf of the UMH were Desir\u00e9e Gracia and Jesica Mart\u00ednez, and they focused on some of the lesser-known functions of the cerebellum that are related to paying attention. To illustrate this, they prepared an interactive questionnaire.<\/p>\n
The NeurotechEU European Alliance is a project co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union that aims to provide the scientific community with higher education and research focused on neurotechnology, the goal of which is addressing health issues related to neuroscience and mental health through affordable technologies. Besides the UMH, the NeurotechEU alliance includes seven other universities: Radboud University, the Netherlands; Karolinska Institutet, Sweden; University of Bonn, Germany; Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University, T\u00fcrkiye; Universitatea de Medicin\u0103 \u0219i Farmacie din Cluj-Napoca, Romania; University of Lille, France; and the University of Reykjavik, Iceland.<\/p>\n
