<\/a>Professor Lomel\u00ed being introduced by Jos\u00e9 Luis Ferris, a writer and UMH associate professor of Journalism.<\/p><\/div>\n
The session was directed at UMH teaching and investigative personnel. Professor Lomel\u00ed, who received his Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico and whose investigative interest has focused on literary history, and Chicano and Latin American Literature, addressed these issues and resolved doubts raised by those in attendance, in addition to stressing the implications of Chicano culture and the strength of the Spanish language within the United States of America.<\/p>\n
This event was one part of a series of actions promoted by the Area of US Hispanic Studies, coordinated by the Vice Rectorate for International Relations that strives to strengthen academic and cultural links and promote mobility with American universities, like in this case with the UCSB. Another similar action will be its support for the upcoming investiture of Tino Villanueva as UMH Doctor Honoris Causa, another of the great references of Chicano literature and culture.<\/p>\n
