What we offer

.

A university internship program of on-campus internships with a central location and on-campus accommodations. MHUIP benefits:

  • Access to a professional environment in either academia or business.
  • Guided by a professional tutor, university faculty or staff member, or designate for internship development support. Buddy program with local students.
  • Development of leadership and professional skills, team spirit in the selected area.
  • Duration: from 4 weeks to one semester. 5 hours/day commitment. Preferably May thru July.
  • Full access to university services (athletic facilities, cultural activities, databases, etc.).
  • Intensive Spanish language courses.
  • Visits to companies in the most representative industrial sectors of Alicante.
  • Participatory and shared activities with other internship students. International environment.
  • Cultural, athletic, and leisure activities in the province of Alicante (Orihuela, Elche, and Alicante).

Types of on-campus internships

.

  1. Internal internship.

An educational, approved, and monitored experience to gain knowledge and skills related to an academic field of study. The student must register for a course that provides at least one ECTS credit for successful internship completion. Approval for course credit is at the discretion of the tutor, and credit worthiness is determined on a case-by-case basis.

 

  1. External internship combined with the University Expert in Professional Competencies, Employability and Entrepreneurship program

A supervised learning experience at one of our spin-offs or startup companies at the UMH Scientific Park with a 200 – 300 € monthly stipend plus liability insurance (50 €). This provides no entitlement to a job after the experience is completed. The student must register for a course that provides at least one ECTS credit for successful internship completion, and must formalize the specific contract at the UMH Occupational Observatory. Approval for course credit is at the discretion of the tutor, and credit worthiness is determined on a case-by-case basis.

  6. Participatory leisure activity with other internship students. Sailing experience or visit to a nearby island.

Spanish language and cultural immersion (optional)

Introductory Spanish language course for foreigners. 2 hours per day twice a week for two months (36 hours). Groups of 7-10 students.

Posting and recruitment

Step 1. Complete an Internship Application or be nominated by the institution of origin

Step 2. Send the Internship Application to the Service of International Relations

All interested students should send their Internship Application (a description of the position, clarifying the learning experience for students and other program activities, as well as providing complete information on the opportunities for credit. The student also states his/her position preferences.) to the UMH Service of International Relations before January 15, 2018 to this email address:

Step 3. Recruitment (February 1 – March 1, 2019)

  • Recruitment process may include e-mail communication or videoconference interviews.
  • School, department, or faculty may require additional clearances or forms that may be included in the student’s application folder within this period.

Step 4. Decision/Offer (March 5, 2019)
