25 October 2024
This week, the campuses of Elche and San Juan welcomed 376 UMH students and employees to donate blood, the outcome of which the Valencian Community Transfusion Center hailed as “exceptional.”
On Tuesday, the halls of the Rectorado, Arenals, and Altabix welcomed 264 people, and from them, 212 units of blood were drawn. One hundred and thirteen of these were first-time donors. Then, on Wednesday, Balmis Hall attended to 112 donors and drew 81 units of blood; on this second day, 29 were donating for their very first time.
In addition to the positive donor data, there were also large numbers of volunteers present on the campuses raising awareness and encouraging university community members to give blood. The numbers of donors in Elche exceeded prior blood drives by seven donors, and the number of donors in San Juan was even better, as it outdid prior editions by ten.
