A group of investigators in food science and technology from the University of São Paulo (Brazil) toured the facilities of the School of Engineering of Orihuela (EPSO) at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH).

This meeting is part of the collaboration agreement between the UMH and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the search for new sources of ingredients to develop sustainable meat products.

EPSO Director, Juan Martínez Tomé, along with investigators from the UMH University Institute for Agro-food and Agro-environmental Research and Innovation (CIAGRO), José Ángel Pérez Álvarez and Juana Fernández López, were tasked with welcoming Brazilian investigators, Carmen S. Favaro-Trindade and Marco Antonio Trindade.

Likewise, during this visit, associate professor of São Paulo, Carmen S. Favaro-Trindade, along with CIAGRO investigator, Raquel Lucas González, gave a theoretical and practical seminar on encapsulation as a tool for producing functional foods. This seminar was put together by the UMH Doctoral Program in Agricultural, Agro-Environmental and Food Resources and Technologies. This joint action enables continuing with bridge building that finds synergies between the research of both countries.
