The Vice Rectorate for Student Affairs and Coordination is proud to announce the new season of VIDA UMH. There over 50 activities on tap that will be taking place on all four UMH campuses from February thru June and the entire university community is eligible to participate in them.

Among this semester’s activities, the main events include a talk by thoracic surgeon, Diego González Rivas; the ‘Do You Want to Be My Friend’ podcast with Mario Marzo and Dan Rivarola; a chat on narcissism with psychologists, Andrea Vicente and Deborah Murcia; and a drive-in movie showing where we will watch the film, Grease. What’s more, the Eureka! Music and Science series kicks off in Alcoy on February 28 with Boticaria García, and then on March 21, go and see astrophysicist and YouTuber, Quantum Fracture, at the Teatro Principal in Alicante.

The new season also includes workshops on makeup techniques with foxy eye, a masterclass with makeup artist, Aarón Blanco, plus other activities such as learning better how to become a model. There are also musical workshops, including jam sessions, and the art of flamenco percussion with the cajón. Vida UMH is also exploring everything from traditional gastronomy with workshops on traditional easter pastries (monas de Semana Santa) to international flavors and Moroccan pastries. There are also wine and chocolate tastings, plus a masterclass on preparing mocktails. We are also combining local gastronomy and hiking on various gastro-environmental getaways that traverse the Province of Alicante from north to south.

We also aim to stir artistic desires, with oil painting and photographic transfer classes, and there are also activities to learn dance styles, including heels dance, and to participate in FIFA, Rocket League, and Mario Kart tournaments.

This season, as a new feature, the procedure for registering for the free activities has been divided into two periods:

• Monday, January 27, for activities taking place February 1 – March 31, 2025.
• Thursday, March 20, for activities taking place April 1 – May 31, 2025.

For its part, the registration period for activities that entail a fee, as well as the main events, is open, and places are granted in the order that individuals sign up for them.

Let us take advantage to remind you that the traditional Spring Festival is taking place on Thursday, March 27. It is featuring rides, karaoke, and the protagonist of that day: the paella. This festival is taking place in the parking lot of Torreblanca Hall on the Elche Campus.
