Altabix Hall of the UMH attracted over 100 students from the Bachelor’s in Psychology program for the latest edition of ‘Snippets of Volunteering by Programs,’ in which three volunteering entities also took part.

Representatives from these entities included Mari Carmen Robles, from ASFEME (Association of Families and People with Severe Mental Illness in the Province of Alicante); María Navarro, from Conciénciate (Become Aware); and María Prío, from Elche Acoge (Elche Welcomes). They explained to the students present how to get involved with their entities through either collaboration or in the form of internships, and they also detailed the services that their organizations offer society, as well as the people with whom they work.

Luis Torrús, a technician from the Service of International Relations and Cooperation, discussed UMH volunteering programs, including Rwanda and #LaUMHteAcompaña (#UMHAccompaniesYou), at this event that was presented by Associate Dean of Projection, Equality and Diversity, Yolanda Quiles.

Every representative praised the benefits of volunteering, on both personal and professional levels, for the students present, and they all encouraged them to volunteer.

ASFEME is an entity that aims to improve the lives of people with severe mental illness and their family members from the Province of Alicante. Elche Acoge looks after basic needs of recent immigrants in situations of vulnerability. Conciénciate fosters social volunteering for improving the quality of lives of people at risk of social exclusion.
