Associations from the Province of Alicante celebrate ‘Allied Afternoon’ at the UMH
Yesterday afternoon, July 14, the inaugural ‘Allied Afternoon’ event was held at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH), a meeting by various third-sector associations from the Province of Alicante to engage in dialogue and to strengthen ties of cooperation.
The participating associations took part in a gymkhana related to development Cooperation that was organized by Paula Carrillo, a representative from the Coordinadora Valenciana de ONGD (CVONGD) as a first contact and to strengthen team work.
Afterwards, a space for debate was enabled in which entities spoke about their efforts and trajectory in order to get to know each other better, and to create synergies for joint work. Moreover, the agricultural cooperative of Elche, La Camperola, offered a light snack with local products.
The meeting was also attended by the UMH Development Cooperation and Volunteerism Director, Juan José Ballesta, in addition to staff from the Service of International Relations, Development Cooperation and Volunteerism.
The Development Cooperation and Volunteerism unit at the UMH is fully committed to the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda and, via these types of activities, aims to contribute to SDG 17 by creating alliances to achieve objectives with the third sector, in order to take advantage of resources and experiences and create meeting points and joint endeavors, thus contributing to the sustainable development of both the university community and civil society as a whole.
