The UMH is hosting a blood drive on the campuses of Elche and Sant Joan d´Alacant.

The Blood Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community, in conjunction with the Vice Rectorate for Inclusion, Sustainability and Athletics, is holding a blood drive at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche on February 22 & 23, 2022.

The Elche Campus community is hereby requested to donate blood on February 22 in the Training Room of the Rectorado & Consejo Social Building from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., as well as in the center halls of the Altabix and Arenals buildings, there from 9:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Then, on February 23, the blood drive continues on the Sant Joan d’Alacant Campus, and the university community there may also donate their blood in the Francisco Javier Balmis building, from 9:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., as well as in the lobby of the Severo Ochoa building, from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Donating blood saves lives. Every day, more than 650 donations of blood are required to care for those in need. Moreover, in times like this pandemic, collaboration by citizens is ever so more important. To give blood, donors must be aged 18 – 65, weigh at least 50 kilograms, and not attend while fasting.

Volunteers (as well as blood donors!) are needed on both days to collaborate in awareness actions during this blood drive. The Area of Development Cooperation and Volunteerism of the Vice Rectorate for International Relations at the UMH is hereby requesting people interested in collaborating to register as volunteers and help with the blood drive by registering via this FORM. Volunteers may register through February 17. The Blood Transfusion Center will award diplomas to the volunteers for their collaboration, and blood donors will receive an external battery to charge their mobile devices.
