The Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) welcomed journalists, Andrea Aldana (Colombian national exiled in Madrid) and Loraine Morales (Cuban national exiled in Tijuana), the first two beneficiaries of the “Elche, Safe Space for Freedom of the Press” initiative. This program is run by the UMH, along with Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and the Elche City Hall, and coordinated by Alfonso Bauluz, RSF president; and José Luis González-Esteban, the UMH Deputy Vice Rector for International Projection and Communication.
The two journalists, Andrea Aldana & Loraine Morales, will stay at the UMH through December, and during their visit, they will present workshops for the Bachelor’s in Journalism and the Dual Bachelor’s in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication programs, and they will also meet with professional journalist organizations and with various groups throughout the Province of Alicante. They have already toured historic portions of the city of Elche and the university campuses, in addition to the radio studio and televisions sets. Vicente Micol Molina, UMH Vice Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation, met with the two journalists to give them a warm welcome and to thank them for their participation in this program.
