UMH to host 33 universities from 21 countries for fifth edition of International Staff Week

During the week beginning Monday, May 19, the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) is set to host 33 universities from 21 different countries for its fifth edition of International Staff Week. ISL is a biennial event that brings together university faculty and management staff from other countries with the aim of sharing & exchanging experiences and consolidating networks to facilitate future collaboration and exchange agreements.
This event, put together by the Vice Rectorate for Internationalization and Cooperation in conjunction with the Service of International Relations and Cooperation at the UMH, is offering a slate of cultural and educational activities that begin on Monday afternoon with a presentation led by UMH Vice Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation, Vicente Micol.
Afterwards, the 40+ invited guests are going to take a walking tour of the Elche Campus. Then, the first day’s events culminate with a show cooking demonstration featuring typical dishes of Spanish gastronomy.
On Tuesday, May 20, there are presentations by the visiting universities beginning at 9:30 that are followed by a healthy break for some fun exercise at 11 in the shade behind Arenals Hall. A session on collaborative online international learning follows the exercise. Day 2 then concludes with a tour through the historic city center of Elche.
The events for Wednesday begin with a special program at Radio UMH at 9, followed by a visit to the Clot de Galvany municipal nature park at 3 p.m. Thursday’s events include a field trip to the Orihuela Campus to learn about the area’s gastronomy, and it concludes with a demonstration of the flamenco cajón at the Plaça de Baix Venue at 7 p.m.
Networking sessions on Friday, May 23, for all the international participants involved conclude the fifth edition of International Staff Week at the UMH. These activities are a core part of the Erasmus+ program, and they offer further opportunities to enhance the internationalization efforts of the UMH, by enhancing the capabilities of its faculty and staff.
