A delegation of education representatives from the Province of Rieti, Italy, visited the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) with the aim of exploring new avenues for institutional collaboration through future agreements and cooperating specifically on faculty mobility and training. Among the individuals present at the reception were the Director General of Universities for the Valencian Community, José Antonio Pérez Juan; and the UMH Vice Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation, Vicente Micol.
The meeting with the Italian delegation was also attended by Alberto Rodríguez, Deputy Vice Rector for Internationalization; Inma Blaya, Director of the Service of International Relations and Cooperation; and Roberto Prada, a staff member at the Service of Communications, Marketing, and Student Services.
Pérez Juan and Micol kicked off the visit with a presentation on the ecosystem of Valencian universities, as well as the operations and structure of the UMH itself. Meanwhile, Deputy Vice Rector Rodríguez focused on the area of mobility and internationalization, highlighting the range of programs and the statistics that support them. Subsequently, Roberto Prada explained the process and the different ways to enroll at the Elche university, as well as the geographical context in which the UMH is located.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both institutions agreed to move forward with the formalization of a framework agreement for collaboration between the UMH and the institution responsible for education in the Province of Rieti. This agreement will aim to foster cooperation in the preparation and joint submission of European projects focused on training staff and specialists in university admissions, as well as fostering the exchange of educational experiences related to secondary education. Furthermore, the agreement will help strengthen the UMH international profile as an academic destination for Italian high school students interested in pursuing their university education in Spain.
