From July 20 to 24, 2026, the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) hosted two representatives from Daffodil International University (DIU) of Bangladesh. Their visit formed part of Action KA171 from the Erasmus+ program, to promote international cooperation and the exchange of best practices among higher education institutions in partner countries.

The Daffodil International University representatives include Lecturer of Textile Engineering, Md. Manik Parvez; and Deputy Director of Purchasing and Procurement at the Bangladeshi institution, Rasel Prodhania. During their stay in Elche, they participated in training sessions focused on the operations of various services at the UMH related to teaching, research, university management, budgeting, and the transfer of knowledge.

Throughout the week, the Daffodil representatives met with academic and administrative managers at the university to explore topics such as practical teaching methodologies in engineering, the organization and management of technical laboratories, the use of specialized equipment, and collaboration between the university and business communities.

Furthermore, their visit provided an opportunity to learn about public procurement procedures, university purchasing planning, financial and budgetary management, as well as the processes for acquiring scientific equipment and the digitization of administrative procedures.

The visit began with a reception hosted by Deputy Vice Rector for Internationalization, Alberto Rodríguez Martínez, and the Director of the Service of the International Relations and Cooperation, Inmaculada Blaya. This reception served to present the main priorities at the Elche institution in terms of internationalization and cooperation.

Among the scheduled activities, highlights included a visit to the UMH Science Park and a tour of Callnak Brand, a company specializing in the design of footwear products using 3D printing. The Bangladeshi delegation also toured the School of Engineering of Elche (EPSE) and the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences of Elche, where they learned about the structure of  degree programs and visited classrooms and teaching laboratories.

The visit concluded with participation by the Bangladeshi representatives in a Radio UMH program and an official farewell ceremony organized by the Service of International Relations and Cooperation, during which certificates acknowledging their exchange participation were awarded.

During the recently completed 2025 – 2026 academic year, two Daffodil International University students were enrolled at the UMH on Erasmus+ exchange programs: one was learning in the Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering while the other did so in the Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Management.

Activities such as these are part of the UMH commitment to internationalization and strengthening strategic partnerships with universities from around the world. These visits promote the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices in academia, science, and university management.
