Representatives from VID Specialized University, a private non-profit institution in Norway, toured the San Juan Campus of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH), the San Juan of Alicante University Hospital, and the Lukas Foundation in search of opportunities for collaboration in the nursing and occupational therapy undergraduate programs.

During their stay, the Norwegian delegation had the opportunity to tour the facilities of Concepción Aleixandre Hall and visit its classrooms, coworking area, laboratories, and simulation rooms. UMH representatives who accompanied them included Mari Carmen Lillo, director of international promotion; Paula Peral and Cristina Espinosa, associate deans of the bachelor’s in occupational therapy; and Concha Carratalá, associate dean of the bachelor’s in nursing.

The meeting between the representatives of these institutions served to explore new opportunities for student exchanges, to review their academic curricula, and see San Juan of Alicante University Hospital and the Lukas Foundation firsthand. There, they examined the availability of nursing internships taught in English for both the nursing and occupational therapy undergraduate programs.

VID Specialized University was founded in 2016. It has campuses in Oslo, Bergen, and other Norwegian cities, and it enrolls 6,000 students. This visit marked its first contact with the UMH to discuss internationalization and student exchange programs.
