The UMH attended the 19th Meeting of Rectors of the Tordesillas Group, recently held in Granada, Spain, under the slogan of “Inclusive Universities to Progress in the 2030 Agenda.” The main objective of this event is to design innovative and joint actions that foster research and education in the areas of inclusion and diversity, which are part of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

A substantial number of Brazilian, Portuguese, and Spanish universities were present at this meeting, and represented by their corresponding rectors and vice rectors for internationalization and research. As part of the meeting’s framework, the Tordesillas Doctoral Schools presented their results during the General Assembly of Rectors.

Vicente Micol, UMH Vice Rector for International Relations, and María Pastor, a faculty member in the Public Health, History of Science and Gynaecology Department at the same institution, attended the event to present results from the first year of operations of the Tordesillas Doctoral School of Public Health and History of Science, which is comprised by the universities of São Paulo and Porto and coordinated by the Miguel Hernández University of Elche. Some of its notable results include the training mobility of doctoral students between its member institutions, the academic and scientific results deriving from the First International Seminar, held in February 2018 at the University of São Paulo, and future actions, which include the first call for Tordesillas mobility grants and the celebration of the “Science and Medicine in Dictatorial Contexts: the Cases of Brazil, Spain, and Portugal during the 20^th Century” Seminar, to be held in 2019.
