SIXTEEN UMH MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE THIS SUMMER IN THE COOPERATION PROGRAM IN RWANDA
Mariano Pérez Arroyo, coordinator of the UMH Cooperation program in Rwanda, held an informative session this morning for the sixteen volunteer participants in the 2016 call who will journey to the African country this summer. This is the sixth year the UMH is sending university community members to Rwanda to collaborate in its cooperation projects.
The meeting covered the steps to take on aspects such as vaccinations and applying for a visa, safety measures to be taken once on the ground, in addition to recommended equipment and materials. Along the same lines, Mariano Pérez shared some advice for the participants to help facilitate their stays within the country.
Also attending the informative session was Vicente Micol, UMH Vice Rector for International Relations, who welcomed the volunteers to “an emblematic and especially important project” for the UMH, one which has been ongoing there for over a decade.
There are sixteen persons participating in this call, and among them are a teacher, one UMH alumnus, and fourteen students from various programs, including biotechnology, journalism, psychology, medicine, pharmacy, telecommunications engineering, physiotherapy, and computer engineering. Two students will help coordinate because they have experience from previous participation. The volunteers will conduct different programs at schools and the Nemba Hospital, which include the inauguration of a teleconference room, whose construction recently concluded.
