UMH STRENGTHENS ACADEMIC LINKS WITH PERUVIAN UNIVERSITIES

Associate professor and Ibero-America Espejo Program Director at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH), Joaquín Julián Pastor Pérez, has traveled to the National Agrarian University – La Molina (UNALM) of Peru to renew for four years the five dual doctorates the UMH maintains with that South American university. Right now, there are three UNALM faculty enrolled in dual doctorate programs at the School of Engineering of Orihuela. Furthermore, during the previous four years, the UMH has received more than 50 UNALM students.

During his stay, the UMH professor participated in the inaugural National Congress of the Peruvian Network of Public University Graduate Schools. Attendants at this congress included managers of graduate schools at 21 Peruvian public universities. At the event, Pastor presented the inaugural conference, entitled “Internationalization Processes of Masters and Doctorates at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, Spain, in Latin America. Graduate Training, Research Structures, and Scientific Productivity.” Since this event, eight universities have contacted the UMH to explore future agreements and set graduate-level programs in motion with the Elche university.
