The role of the volunteer who provides emotional support over the telephone. Experiences with #LaUMHTeAcompaña

The Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) and the Area of Development Cooperation and Volunteerism at the Vice Rectorate for International Relations, in conjunction with the Spanish Red Cross, is offering the training workshop, ‘The role of the volunteer who provides emotional support over the telephone. Experiences with #LaUMHTeAcompaña.’

This training is taking place online October 22, from 10:000 – 13:00 CET. Registering for the event is free and is open to both the university community and UMH alumni.

Workshop attendants will learn about the importance of providing emotional support over the telephone and care processes during times of crisis. They can listen to actual experiences by the participants in the #LaUMHteAcompaña volunteer program, who have intervened to alleviate loneliness in people in vulnerable situations during the shutdowns caused by the pandemic.

The registration period is now open and will be so through October 20. Furthermore, workshop attendants can request recognition for 0.5 transversal competencies credits if they complete the 9.5-hour-long corresponding task.
