UMH and SEMICYUC sign collaboration agreement
The Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) and the Spanish Society of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine and Coronary Units (SEMICYUC) have formalized a collaboration agreement that, among other objectives, aims to contribute to the training of medical and nursing personnel from the intensive care unit of the Nemba Hospital in Rwanda.
The agreement was signed on March 8 by Vice Rector for International Relations, Vicente Micol, acting on behalf of the UMH, along with the SEMICYUC president, Álvaro Castellanos. Their signatures enable both institutions to establish links of collaboration in educational, scientific, technological, and cultural fields of common interest, including participation in joint projects with national and international dimensions.
This framework agreement provides a source for SEMICYUC intensive care specialists. These medical professionals will provide training support for Rwandan healthcare personnel who work in the ICU at the Nemba hospital, where the Area of Development Cooperation and Volunteerism of the Vice Rectorate for International Relations, along with the UMH Headquarters in Rwanda Chair, coordinates the improvements to, modernization, and operations of the intensive care unit.
