Daniel Innerarity, Professor of Philosophy at the University of the Basque Country, to open the 21st Meeting of Rectors of the Tordesillas Group

On November 6 – 8, 2022, the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) is hosting the 21st Meeting of Rectors of the Tordesillas Group, of which this university currently holds this group’s presidency. This meeting will bring together rectors from Spanish, Brazilian, and Portuguese universities, and will offer a comprehensive academic and social program for its attendees.
This event’s inaugural address and welcome will be presided over by UMH rector, José Juan Ruíz Martínez, along with participation by the rector from the University of Brasilia, Márcia Abrahão Moura, who will be this group’s next president. Other participants in this address include the rectors from the universities of Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, and Valladolid.
Its inaugural conference will be led by Daniel Innerarity, who is a Professor of Political Philosophy from the University of the Basque Country, researcher from Ikerbasque, and the Director of the Institute of Democratic Governance. Various roundtables will follow this conference, and which will culminate with the closing conference presented by researcher from the Center for Humanities and Social Sciences of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Antonio Laguente García.
This event is entitled, “Open Science: a Step towards Accessible, Global and Democratic Knowledge,” and it also offers a social program that consists of cultural and tourist visits around the city of Elche.
This event offers great visibility and international projection of the UMH, and it coincides with this university’s 25th anniversary. To take full advantage of this opportunity, the city of Elche, along with its historical and cultural heritage, will also be showcased to the event’s participants.
