This morning, the Vice Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH), Vicente Micol Molina, attended the signing of an accord on behalf of the political parties running in the May 28 election for the Elche Mayorship to implement international cooperation policies. This signing, which took place at the Aula de la Plaça de Baix of the UMH, was spearheaded by the Valencian Coordinator of NGOs, and attendees at the act included Asunción Aznar and Gara Pulido, and representatives of the entity.

The UMH vice rector, Vicente Micol Molina, opened the ceremony, and he highlighted that the “Miguel Hernández University has been working on international development cooperation all over the world for more than 20 years, with unique projects like the UMH Headquarters in Rwanda, and the university deems it vitally important for all institutions to continue collaborating on it, this way strengthening alliances as an essential instrument to carry out effective and consensual development cooperation with local stakeholders.”

The UMH, as part of the Local Committee on Development Cooperation, welcomed this initiative, entitled “Agreement for International Development Cooperation in Elche” as a starting point to reach agreements that ensure the development of international cooperation policies, and reaching the goal of 0.7% in economic investment.

Attendees at the signing included candidates for the Partido Socialista Obrero Español, Carlos González; Partido Popular, Pablo Ruz; Compromís, Esther Díez; and that of Ciudadanos, Eduardo Garcia-Ontiveros.
