UMH Welcome Days greets more than 80 students from 15 countries

On September 14 & 15, the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, through its Service of International Relations, Development Cooperation and Volunteerism, offered its annual Welcome Days event to mark the start to the new 2023/2024 school year. There were 84 incoming students (from the Erasmus+, SICUE and Destino programs) who participated in this welcoming act, which was held virtually, and they hailed from 15 different countries: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, and Uruguay.

During Welcome Days, the university offers various workshops so that the incoming students learn of the services offered by the university. In this edition, the technicians from the service informed them about the possibilities for finding housing accommodations in Elche and surrounding areas, they presented the campus facilities, talked about athletic opportunities, and cultural offerings. The incoming students also learned of the Club Erasmus, the Buddy Program, and were given other tips for getting to know their counterparts from other countries, with other languages, and other cultures.

On September 14, the day’s activities ran from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The activities then ended with a photography contest. Then, on day two, September 15, the activities began at 09:30 with an informative session on university documents and procedures. This edition of Welcome Days then finished at 11:35.
