Methods for helping people affected by the torrential rain and flash flooding
3 December 2024
The Miguel Hernández University of Elche, through its Vice Rectorate for Internationalization and Cooperation, is firmly committed to supporting institutions, NGOs, and entities that jump into action following natural disasters.
Due to the torrential downpour that fell on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, which primarily affected areas within our autonomous community of Spain, the university wants to lend its support behind the entities that are acting in conjunction with governmental agencies and emergency services to provide shelter, food & water, medicine, and any other assistance required by the affected populations. To better enable the university and surrounding communities to lend their support, the Area of Development Cooperation and Volunteerism at the UMH has compiled information about various forms of how individuals can responsibly assist these agencies and thereby help the affected individuals.
CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS

Caritas Valencia is working alongside the Valencia City Hall to help people in L’Alqueria del Basket and the municipality of Petxina. To help the efforts by Cáritas, a direct website (click the link) has been created to make donations to help the victims from the flash floods, and following that are bank account numbers for the very same purpose:

The SPANISH FEDERATION OF FOOD BANKS (FESBAL), has activated its committee and emergency funds to send foodstuffs and basic products to the provinces affected by the flash flooding. This federation has also set up a website to collect donations as well as a specific bank account that will fully allocate 100% of any donations it receives to the purchase of foodstuffs and basic products for the population affected by the storms in Valencia, Albacete, Cuenca, Malaga, and Cadiz, primarily.
