On Thursday, January 30, UMH Rector, Juan José Ruiz, signed a collaboration agreement with the National University of Juliaca (Peru) with the aim of establishing a framework for action to foster academic, cultural, and technological growth at both institutions.

Other UMH representatives attending this act included Vice Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation, Vicente Micol; Deputy Vice Rector for Internationalization, Alberto Rodríguez; and associate professor, Ernesto Ávila. Present on behalf of the Peruvian university were its President, Edelfré Flores Velásquez; Vice President of Research, Richard Dante Ramírez; and UNAJ teaching faculty member, Helarf Ferrer.

Stipulations in the agreement explore the possibility of exchanges by university students, faculty, and staff in addition to any types of joint educational and cultural activities.

This signing is part of the ongoing internationalization efforts by the UMH to enhance its academic offering. The National University of Juliaca is a young university, founded in 2007. It currently enrolls almost 3,000 students, and offers strong academics, led by various engineering programs.

The Peruvian representatives presented the UMH Rector and his team with Toritos de Pucará, a ceramic that is characteristic of that district, along with an outfit that is traditional from the city of Juliaca.
