University of Belas (Angola) and UMH explore opportunities for collaboration in the fields of social sciences and medicine

On Thursday, July 24, 2025, in Rectorate & Consejo Social Hall, the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) welcomed representatives from the Angolan University of Belas (UniBelas), who expressed interest in education related to the social sciences and medicine.
UMH Rector, Juan José Ruiz, accompanied by Vice Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation, Vicente Micol; Deputy Vice Rector for Institutional Position & Rankings, José Manuel Blanes; and Dean of the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences of Elche, Carmen V. Escolano; welcomed the Angolan delegation and exchanged views on possible avenues for future collaboration.
The Angolan group presented the Rector and Vice Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation with local gifts from UniBelas and others from greater Angola. Likewise, the UMH representatives offered the guests gifts representative of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche.
Furthermore, the Angolan delegation, led by its promoter, Isaac Rui Pedro, will visit the Experimental Cyborg Center on Friday, July 25, in addition to the faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy, in a visit coordinated by UMH staff, including Mariemi Bermejo, María Pastor, and Fernando Borrás.
UniBelas is an institution that has over 40,000 student alumni and it employees 700 people. It is a university that is currently in an expansion mode. Moreover, it is a university whose values foster socioeconomic development, the reduction of social inequalities, and the promotion of sustainable development.
