Yesterday, October 20, a delegation from the University of Cauca in Colombia visited the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) aiming to strengthen academic collaboration between both institutions and to examine new avenues for cooperation.

The visit began in Rectorado Hall on the Elche Campus. There, the Colombian group was welcomed by the Deputy Vice Rector for Institutional Position and Rankings, José Manuel Blanes; Director of Mobility, África Martínez; and the director of the Experimental Cyborg Center, Fernando Borrás.

The delegation from the University of Cauca was comprised by the Deputy Vice Rector for Academics, Aida González; dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Alejandro Toledo; dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Adriana Castro; and the dean of the Faculty of Accounting, Economics, and Management, Ciro Alirio Figueroa. During meetings, both parties presented their strategic lines and expressed their commitment to continue strengthening institutional collaboration through new mobility agreements and joint projects.

The Colombian delegation also toured the School of Engineering of Elche (EPSE), and there they met with EPSE Deputy Director of Communication, International Relations and Mobility, María de los Ángeles Bustamante; EPSE director, José María Sabater; along with Cauca alumni, Juliana Manrique and Juan David Romero, who are currently linked with the UMH.

To conclude the visit, a meeting took place with the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences of Elche, and its dean, Carmen Victoria Escolano Asensi, along with Associate Dean of Coordination and Internationalization, Rafael Domenech Sánchez. Among other topics, this meeting explored possible avenues for collaboration in academic programs and international projects.

The University of Cauca has maintained links with the UMH since 2012, and academic mobility agreements between the two institutions have enabled 26 Colombian students to carry out training stays at the UMH. During the current 2025-2026 school year, three Colombian students are studying within UMH classrooms, thereby continuing a successful relationship of international collaboration that remains strong year after year.
