Last Friday, November 7, Arenals Hall was the site for the initial International Brunch for incoming exchange students at the UMH. This gastronomic extravaganza, organized by the Club Erasmus in conjunction with the Service of International Relations at the UMH, proved a huge success, as it drew over 70 students from 17 countries from all over the world.

The International Brunch featured a contest wherein students formed into groups based on their countries of origin, and each group brought a typical food dish from their respective country. These dishes included ceviche, vatapá, pão de queijo, Olivier salad, and potato omelettes, but other typical foods were also present, and this smorgasbord of foods was then consumed during the brunch. Vicente Micol, UMH Vice Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation, was on hand to inaugurate the brunch.

The students who attended this event lauded it as a fine opportunity to learn better about new cultures and for meeting new people in an informal intercultural setting. The International Brunch brought together Erasmus, SICUE, and Destino mobility program students who are currently learning within UMH classrooms.

The Club Erasmus regularly organizes activities such as this brunch every school year, and for them, it counts on collaboration by the buddies of incoming exchange students. In addition to the International Brunch, visits are planned to different cultural and leisure venues within the Province of Alicante at different times all throughout the school year.
