From September 8 – 11, 2026, the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) participated in the annual conference and exhibition of the European Association for International Education (EAIE), held in Glasgow (United Kingdom), where it held meetings with representatives from higher education institutions from several countries with the aim of fostering new opportunities for collaboration and international mobility for the university community.

During the event, the UMH delegation, which was composed of Alberto Rodríguez, Deputy Vice Rector for Internationalization; Inma Blaya, Director of the Service of International Relations and Cooperation; and Mónica Candela, Section Manager of the Mobility and Internationalization Service Area, held working meetings to discuss potential student and staff mobility agreements.

The university’s participation in this event demonstrates the UMH’s strong commitment to internationalization, as the EAIE Conference and Exhibition is one of the leading gatherings in the field of international higher education, and it brings together more than 7,000 professionals and over 1,200 institutions from around the world each year. The goal of these gatherings is to expand and strengthen international partnerships and foster student mobility and academic collaboration with higher education institutions from different parts of the world.

At the conference, the UMH made progress in expanding areas of knowledge with agreements with partner universities, new mobility agreements, and partnerships in university collaboration activities with institutions with which agreements already exist, both within and outside the European Union. These countries include Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, India, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Romania, South Korea, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Likewise, new contacts were made that will enable exploration of future collaborations in areas such as study and internship mobility, virtual mobility, dual degree programs, and short-term stays for doctoral training and specialized training.

Participation at EAIE also enabled the UMH to undertake new international cooperation initiatives and strengthen its relationships with partner universities in The European University of Brain and Technology (NeurotechEU), a European consortium of universities of which the UMH is a member.
