About forty incoming students on various exchange programs at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) participated in the first activity of the new school year, organized jointly by the UMH Club Erasmus and the UMH Language Center (CDI).

This event consisted of the first edition of a bilingual tour aboard a double-decker convertible sightseeing bus that drove around the Elche Campus and the city of Elche’s main points of interest. This initiative, also marketed as “Hop on Elche!” drove around the university campus, stopping at installations that included the Sports Palace, swimming pool, Arenals Hall, and the garden honoring recipients of UMH honorary doctorates.

Then, after leaving the campus, the bus tour, which was given in both Spanish and English by Caroline Wilkinson, a CDI instructor, continued onward toward Elche’s historic landmarks. The bus drove through areas that included the Elche Municipal Park and the Huerto del Cura, and Wilkinson pointed out locations of interest to students, such as the Elche General Hospital and the train and bus stations closest to campus.

This initiative enabled the incoming UMH university community to get to know, from a different perspective, while on a tall vehicle with the top down, academic and tourist locations that will be most useful during their time at Miguel Hernández university.

This event marks the beginning of an academic year in which upcoming activities, including the popular and well-known International Brunch, among others, are upcoming.
