UMH illustrates sound running of online teaching for UASD delegation from Dominican Republic

Yesterday, October 23, 2024, a delegation from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) from the Dominican Republic learned about the UMH virtual teaching model and the tools that it uses with the aim of implementing online graduate programs in a new joint action between both public entities.

The UMH representatives who welcomed the Dominican delegation and highlighted the doctoral programs in food sciences, health sciences, the environment and sustainability that are already ongoing at the UASD, as well as other graduate programs that will be unveiled shortly at the Dominican university, included Vice Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation, Vicente Micol; the director of both the IA4LEGOS Learning Project and the NANOCURSOS Virtual Learning Environment, Fernando Borrás; and the Director of the Service of International Relations, Development Cooperation and Volunteerism, Inma Blaya.

Then, Borrás explained how Miguel Hernández University virtual teaching functions in addition to various study abroad courses in different areas of knowledge.

Likewise, Blaya commented on the various possibilities for future student exchange projects within the Erasmus+ program framework, which include students with grants who will travel next week to Elche thanks to collaboration between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Dominican Republic and the UMH.

The Dominican delegation also toured the Elche Campus and visited the facilities of the UMH Scientific Park, and there, its general manager, Tonia Salinas, explained the UMH model for management and knowledge transfer.

The UASD attendees included the Director of Virtual Education, Yasmin Hernández; coordinators of Virtual Offers from the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, Marianela Fernández and Antonia Mercedes Payano; and the Coordinator of Virtual Offers from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Carlos Julio Matos.

The UASD is a university with almost 500 years of history. It enrolls over 200,000 students and is the most prominent public university from its region.
