International expansion at UMH continues with improvements to agreements with University of Monterrey and Uniminuto University of Bogotá

On July 8, 2025, Rectorado & Consejo Social Hall on the Elche Campus hosted meetings between the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) and the University of Monterrey (UDEM; Mexico). These were followed up by other meetings with the Uniminuto University of Bogotá (Colombia). Their purpose was to seek enhancements to exchange agreements and other academic opportunities.
UMH Vice Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation, Vicente Micol, along with Deputy Vice Rector for Internationalization, Alberto Rodríguez, welcomed Vice Rector of Social Projection, Anacristina Bayona, from the Colombian institution, and she was keen on future collaboration and the possibility of a dual master.
Other UMH representatives at the meetings included the Director of Development Cooperation and Volunteerism, Juana Aznar; the Director of Prosperity, the Chair of Sustainable Development Cooperation, Antonio Verdú; and the Dean at the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences of Orihuela, José Francisco Parra.
The meetings with the University of Monterrey focused on future joint collaboration for professional internships, certification programs and/or dual undergraduate programs, as well as other academic opportunities.
Vicente Micol, accompanied by Alberto Rodríguez and the secretary of the Systems Engineering and Automation Department, Eduardo Iáñez, expressed their gratitude for the Mexican university’s willingness to work together.
Present on behalf of the University of Monterrey was its Dean of Health Allied Sciences and Director of the Biomedical Engineering program, Carlos García.
UDEM is an entity with close to 20,000 enrolled undergraduate and graduate students, 700 nursing students, and over 1,200 faculty members teaching and conducting research. It is a leading university in the health field. Uniminuto University of Bogotá is much larger, as it has over 100,000 enrolled students.
