ELENA CRESPO OBTAINS HER SECOND JEAN MONNET CHAIR FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION

Chair Jean Monnet logoThe European Union has conferred upon Elena Crespo Navarro, a professor of International Public Law and International Relations at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH), with her second Jean Monnet Chair (Call 2019). The objective of the Jean Monnet Programme, which is funded by the European Commission, is to foster excellence in education and research in the area of European Union studies throughout the entire world.

Crespo Navarro’s project is managed by the UMH Vice Rectorate for International Relations and it will last for three years. It contains teaching, dissemination, and research components, and educators, specialists, and researchers from various Spanish and European universities and institutions are to participate in its activities.

The Jean Monnet Chair, entitled Reinforcing EU Values. The Role of Active Citizenship, is the second obtained by Crespo Navarro. The first, awarded in 2013, focused on exterior actions by the European Union in terms of promoting and protecting human rights. Of the 1,315 applications submitted for the current call, which came from institutions from all over the world, only 251 projects were selected.
