UMH welcomes scholarship students from Dominican Republic

The Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) welcomed students from the Dominican Republic who have received scholarships through the call for international grants by the Dominican Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT) to train students from that country in specialized training programs at the UMH.

Welcoming their arrival on December 21 were UMH Rector, Juan José Ruiz Martínez; Vice Rector for International Relations, Vicente Micol; Deputy Vice Rector for International Relations – Mobility Activities, Africa Martínez; and Ibero-America Espejo Program Director, Joaquín Julián Pastor.  After their Elche Campus arrival, a meeting was held with 15 of the 22 students.

This meeting served to introduce the university, present its academic offer, facilities, projects and programs, and the intention to continue strengthening ties with universities in that Caribbean country was highlighted.

The Dominican students expressed their gratitude to the UMH for the dedication, kindness, and treatment given them during the process of presenting documentation, the preparations made beforehand, and the reception provided by the various training programs.

The UMH and MESCyT have been strengthening their ties with the Espejo program, which facilitates participation by UMH faculty in graduate programs in Latin America and fosters relationships with Dominican students so they can study at our university.
