Representatives from Colombian universities at the UMH

Visita del rector de la Uniminuto de ColombiaThe Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) has welcomed representatives from the Colombian universities of de la Salle, del Rosario, Autónoma Latinoamericana (UNAULA), and Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios (UNIMINUTO). The aim of their meeting was to foster improved relations between these institutions, tour UMH facilities, and to learn more about the Spanish higher education system.

During the morning of June 29, UMH Vice Rector for International Relations, Vicente Micol Molina, welcomed and held a strategic meeting with UNIMINUTO rector, Jefferson Arias, along with faculty and research personnel from the various Colombian universities. Their meeting served to introduce the UMH, its academic offer, facilities, projects, and programs, and the intention by all present to continue strengthening links between both institutions was stressed.

For his part, the UNIMINUTO rector took advantage to recognize the different collaborative efforts that have been going on between his institution and the UMH since 2016. He expressed optimism about the future relationship between both country’s institutions, since, during the meeting, they addressed the possibility of receiving doctoral students to undergo stays at the UMH and to collaborate with them in the promotion of social entrepreneurship in rural areas of Colombia.

Other individuals present for this meeting included José Antonio Verdú, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences of Orihuela; Juana Aznar Márquez, Associate Dean of Academic Management & Mobility from that same Faculty; Joaquín Julián Pastor, Ibero-America Espejo Program Director; and Fernando Borrás Rocher, Director of the Nano Courses Virtual Learning Environment.
